Ally Moore
Head Softball Coach: 1st Year
The Asbury University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on October 14th, 2022 that Ally Moore was named head coach for the softball program.
Moore, who served as an assistant coach during the 2022 season, was a standout pitcher for the Eagles from 2017-2021. The Lawrenceburg, Ky., native graduated cum laude from Asbury in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Mathematics. She went on to earn an MBA at AU in May 2022.
After missing the entire 2018 season due to injury, Moore returned to action in 2019 and was named AU's Comeback Player of the Year at the annual Eagle Awards. As a senior in 2021, Moore was named first-team all-conference, leading the Eagles to their first conference tournament appearance in several years.
In 2021, Moore led Asbury on the mound with 124.1 innings pitched (only 64 runs allowed), 53 strikeouts, team leading eight wins, nine complete games, two shoutouts, and an impressive 3.33 ERA. Moore's career pitching stats at Asbury rank among the top with 21 wins, 144 strikeouts, and 20 complete games.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this team and the Asbury community," Moore said. "I am thankful for all those who inspired me in my journey in coaching and I thank God every day for opening the door for me to continue being involved in a sport that I am extremely passionate about. I am excited to lead these young women, not only on the field, but in life and in Christ. Go Eagles!"
"We are very thankful to have Coach Moore stepping into this important role," Mark Whitworth, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics & University Communications said. "She pursued this opportunity with the same determination, tenacity, and patience that she displayed as a standout pitcher. Ally brings a deep understanding of our softball program, having achieved all-conference honors as an Asbury student-athlete and most recently serving as an assistant coach. She is familiar with the unique demands of a rigorous academic experience, while competing and training as a college athlete."
Jennifer Sarver will continue to serve on the AU coaching staff and has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. The Eagles open the 2023 season February 11th, when they face Centre College. The team will be led by junior shortstop Taylor Enlow, who was named second team All-American by the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA)
